Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of this website, operated by the imprint Ember Serials ("we", "us"). By using the site, or by creating an account, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. The service

Ember Serials publishes original web serials that anyone can read for free, without an account. An optional free reader account adds a personal library (follows, favourites, read later, reading progress), ratings, reviews and chapter comments. Chapters are released on a schedule. We may add, change, pause or remove stories, chapters or features at any time.

2. Who can use the site

The site is intended for readers aged 13 and over, and you must be at least 13 to create an account. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to these terms. Some stories are intended for adults, and parents should supervise younger readers.

3. Your account

  • Give accurate information, including an email address you control. One account per person, and an account is for one person only; do not share it or sell it.
  • Keep your password secret and use one you do not use elsewhere. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has used it.
  • Usernames must not impersonate another person, a pen name of this imprint or our staff, and must not be offensive or advertise anything.
  • We may suspend or disable an account, or remove its content, if it breaks these terms, if we reasonably believe it is being used for abuse, or if the law requires it.

4. Your content

"Your content" means the ratings, reviews, comments, replies and reports you post. You keep ownership of it. By posting it you grant Ember Serials a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, display, format and moderate it on the site and in the site's own features (for example showing reviews on a story's page and calculating average scores), for as long as it is on the site. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backup copies that are overwritten as backups rotate. You are responsible for what you post and confirm you have the right to post it.

5. Community rules

Be kind: criticise stories, not people. You agree not to post anything that:

  • harasses, threatens, bullies or insults other readers or anyone else, or is hateful towards people because of who they are;
  • is spam, advertising, self-promotion, affiliate or referral links, or repeated or off-topic posts;
  • spoils later chapters without a clear spoiler warning;
  • is illegal, sexually explicit, or infringes someone else's copyright or other rights;
  • impersonates another person or misrepresents your connection with anyone;
  • contains personal information about other people (addresses, phone numbers, emails, real identities) without their permission;
  • contains malware, phishing or links meant to deceive.

6. Honest ratings and reviews

Ratings and reviews must reflect your own honest opinion of a story you have read. Do not post fake reviews, rate or review in exchange for payment or favours, coordinate with others to push scores up or down, or use more than one account to rate, review, comment or vote. We may remove ratings, reviews and votes that we reasonably believe break this rule, and disable the accounts involved. Story scores are shown only once at least 5 readers have rated a story.

7. Moderation

We may, at our discretion and without notice: hold posts for review before they appear (posts from accounts less than 24 hours old are always held); hide or remove any content; and disable accounts. We are not obliged to monitor the site or to review everything that is posted, and we are not responsible for content posted by readers. If you see something that breaks these rules, use the Report button or write to us. Decisions are made by people; if you think we got one wrong, write to [email protected] and we will take another look.

8. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time on your Account page. This deletes your account and the content linked to it, as described in our Privacy Policy. We may end or suspend accounts as described above, and we may close the account features altogether; the stories remain free to read.

9. AI-assisted content

Every story on this site is AI-assisted: drafts are produced with the help of language models and then revised through an editorial and quality process. Stories are published under pen names that belong to this imprint; a pen name is a label for a line of stories, not a separate real person. The works are fiction. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, or to real events is coincidental.

10. Content warnings and rankings

Stories may include violence, mature themes and strong language typical of their genre. Our "Best Rated" list is ordered by our own editorial quality score; reader ratings are shown separately on each story's page. View counts and reader scores come only from real visits and real readers.

11. Intellectual property

The stories, text, pen names, cover designs and site design are owned by Ember Serials or its licensors and are protected by copyright. You may read them on this site and share links to them. You may not copy, republish, translate, sell, or scrape the content in bulk, or use it to train machine-learning models, without our written permission. Short quotations for review or commentary are fine when you credit the story and link back.

12. Acceptable use

You agree not to: disrupt or overload the site; try to access other people's accounts, the admin area or other non-public parts; get around rate limits, moderation or account suspensions (for example by opening new accounts); create accounts or post by automated means; scrape or mirror the site with automated tools other than well-behaved search engine crawlers; or use the site for anything unlawful.

13. Copyright complaints

If you believe something on the site, including something a reader posted, infringes your copyright, follow the process on our Copyright & DMCA page.

14. Links to other sites

The site, including reader posts, may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or practices.

15. No warranty

The site, accounts and all content are provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not promise that the site will always be available or error-free, or that your library, ratings or posts will never be lost.

16. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ember Serials will not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or from content posted by other readers. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

17. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we handle, including account data, and your rights.

18. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Any dispute will be handled by the competent courts of Vietnam, unless the mandatory consumer laws of your country give you the right to bring a claim where you live.

19. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version; continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it. If a change materially affects account holders, we will say so on the site before it takes effect.
